Online Reputation - Does Trackur Deliver?

By DavidReece • Mar 19th, 2008 • Category: Internet, Startups, Technology

Trackur (www.trackur.com) is a brand new service that promises to take the legwork out of monitoring your online reputation by scouring the web for keywords related to yourself, your company or anything else that keeps you awake at night.

In a nutshell, it’s an aggregated ego-search for power users, allowing you to quickly see who’s talking about you online and what they’re saying, which you can then subscribe to via RSS feed or email. I can already think of a couple of individuals would relish the idea, but I digress. I’ll let the founder explain it…

Eager to give this a try (and see just how unpopular I am) I signed up with baited breath, expecting to see a comprehensive list of links that could replace my daily google search of people to add to my ever growing shit-list of Startup Earth dissenters, but I have to say I was a little disappointed at seeing very few results.

The results themselves fold away nicely, and make for very easy reading on a single page, but the overall experience could be a little underwhelming for anyone familiar with google’s advanced search features and alerts, but that said - the email and RSS reports feature is promising.

From the site..

“Trackur is an online reputation monitoring tool designed to assist you in tracking what is said about you on the internet. Trackur scans hundreds of millions of web content–including news, blogs, video, images, and forums–and lets you know if it discovers anything that matches the keywords that interest you.

Using sophisticated monitoring and filtering techology, Trackur is your reputation guardian. It does the heavy-lifting for you–scanning the web for any mention of you name, brands, and products–so you don’t have to.”

There is a free 14-day trial, followed by 3 pricing tiers; standard ($88 per month), pro ($188 per month) and enterprise ($388 per month), each offering more frequent updates and more saved searches respectively.

  1. Thanks for your review and feedback.

Be sure to save your search. Trackur works best when you save your search and let it actively monitor the web. When you first run Trackur, it gives you a snapshot of results. When you save it, Trackur acts like a constant radar–scouring the net for new results.
