Rumor Squashed: CNet NOT Buying Revision3
By DavidReece • Mar 16th, 2008 • Category: NewsThe rumors surrounding Revision3 CNet acquisition are just that.. rumors. Revision3, home of popular streaming video shows Diggnation and The Totally Rad Show was reported to have been snapped up by media network CNet for $57m.
The story quickly gained momentum across the blogosphere after a reliable source quoted an obscure blog post that turned out to be nothing more than link-bait. The rumor was quickly denied by Revision3 co-founder Jay Adelson, but by then it was too late for the many bloggers who covered the story without waiting for confirmation.
The site is the brainchild of Digg founder Kevin Rose, Jay Adelson, and David Prager, who founded the company back in 2005.

Revision3 has built on the popularity of Digg to gain a massive audience for it’s shows which feature mainly tech related content, and has attracted a wide-range of top advertisers including Sony, Netflix, Dolby, Microsoft, IBM, HP, Southern Comfort, Virgin America, Verizon and FX Networks, which if the rumor were actually true, would make the site a hot property for CNet, who already own Gamespot, Techrepublic, Tv.com and many more in an enviable portfolio of media brands.
